I’m sometimes asked if I have any side projects on the go – a screenplay, a novel or a start-up idea.
My answer’s always the same: no.
The truth is, I’m never happier or more creatively fulfilled than when I’m working on a brief.
I’m still fascinated by comms problems and delighted by ingenious and engaging solutions.
I love coming up with ideas – big, bold concepts that run and run. (And run away with all the awards.)
I also love taking pains over the craft.
(In his book How To Write Better Copy, industry legend Steve Harrison says that I was one of a handful of writers whose copy he never had to amend.)
I’m not bothered about the channel or platform. I just want to be where the reader or viewer is.
Whether that’s standing in front of a poster, scrolling through Instagram or scanning an email.
Or looking at a website, just as you are now.
